BENEFICIATING OF PYRITE ORE-FORUI PYRITE ORE DRESSING EQUIPMENT
 

As kind of important components in military project, chemical industry, agriculture, and bob-weight industry, pyrite has become more expensive with its increasing demand. But how to get the pyrite concentrate from the pyrite ore? Here FORUI will share some about this question.

The floatatability of pyrite is great and the specific density is 4.9-5.2, so both floatation separation and gravity separation can work for the beneficiation of pyrite. The following is about gravity separation and floatation separation for pyrite.

1.    Pyrite gravity separation

Gravity separation works on basics of different specific gravities between different minerals to get the light and the heavy materials. Generally speaking, the gravity separation equipment is jigger and shaking table. Both jig machine and shaking table can help to get pyrite concentrate because of big difference specific gravity between pyrite and its gangue.
Pyrite granules are usually embedded in the gangue, and simple crushing or milling can dissociate these pyrite granules. Then jigging machines can help to get fine, and coarse pyrite granules. The crushed or milled ore will layer to upper and lower layers and the pyrite concentrate will be the lower layer going through the screen later while the tailings will be the upper layer discharged from the tailing port soon.  

The plant investment for pyrite ore is small with low operation cost and high beneficiation efficiency especially for coarse pyrite grains. For fine pyrite grains, jigging machine has been used widely in the pyrite in China with easy operation and high recovery.

2.    Pyrite floatation separation

For some pyrite ore, it is too fine for the embedded size, or it needs further milling to be finer to get dissociated and the gravity separation can not work. Here floatation separation will be involved to do the job to get the fine pyrite grains. Floatation separation works on the floatatability of the minerals. However, the plant invest will be high, while the operation cost is high and it is unfriendly to environment.

The beneficiation indicator is high for pyrite through floatation separation. However it is not profitable or economic for pyrite to adopt floatation separation. For most of pyrite ore beneficiation project, jig gravity separation can be used to get the pyrite concentrate with the smallest investment and operation cost to gain a considerable profit. For some pyrite with multi metals, floatation separation can be added to get different metals.
