Gravity separation to extract tin, alluvial tin enrichment equipment
 

Extraction of tin from alluvial tin ore is similar to placer gold enrichment. Generally, gravity separation can help gain great enrichment efficiency with its high recovery rate. For big mineralliberation degree tin ore, easy screening and washing separation can gain high grade tin concentrate. For small mineral liberation degree tin ore, further milling by ball mill or rod mill will be needed to liberate the tin granules from the impurities before the separation to gain concentrate.  

 

Gravity separation for alluvial tin ore works because of the big density difference between tin mineral and impurities. And the big difference makes it kind of an ideal machine to get high quality tin concentrate with its high efficiency, energy-saving, small investment, and environment-friendly characteristics.

Gravity separator for alluvial tin ore is mainly jig separator. Sometimes shaking table will be involved in order to improve recovery rate of the fine tin. The general flow sheet for tin extraction is screening—jigging, shaking table separation—dewatering. For small mineralliberation degree tin ore, two phases of gravity separation will be needed and the flow sheet can be screening-jigging separation-rod milling-jigging separation-shaking table separation-dewatering.

Whiteface Mountain tin beneficiation factory is one of factories of alluvial tin extraction. There is a certain difference between the granules of +5mm and -5mm. So 5mm will be the screening size to separate the +5mm out, and the +5mm granules will go for rod mills for further milling. And then it will be put into the jig concentrator for two phases jigging enrichment. Usually after jigging separation and shaking table separation, the concentrate will be of Sn 8%-9% and will go for secondary milling and further separation. The -5mm ore goes for Φ600mm swirler for classifying, the heavy riffling will go for jigger for further separation while the overflow will be treated by Φ400mm swirler and shaking separator.

With the further research development of jig separator, Forui jigger can deal with ore between 200meshes and 50mm for different minerals.

There is a project about tin recovery from tin slag in Russia. The slag is improved to be 5.7% of Sn from 0.2% of Sn with recovery rate over 85% with whole jigging processing line.
