Hematite Ore Washing and Upgrading Equipment

 Hematite is kind of weak magnetism iron ore, and over 85% Fe in nature has been in hematite, martite, siderite, and limonite iron minerals while small percentage in magnetite. With development of industries, the magnetite and weak magnetic iron ore easy to upgrade has been becoming few and these weak magnetism iron ore like hematite and limonite has been the core iron mineral for the steel industrial development. The hematite iron ore can be used after further upgrading and processing. The different beneficiation processing shall be involved because of hematite ore of different inlay. The following picture is about the crude hematite and the hematiter concentrate after jigging gravity separation.

1.   For hematite of coarse inlay granulesCoarse inlay granule here means hematite inlay size of +2mm, and this kind of hematite is easy to upgrade. Ore-washing, gravity separation, dry or wet magnetic separation can be used to get high grade iron concentrate. In Sunrise Beneficiation plant in America, 80% of hematite ore looks like loose red clay while 20% balanced of hard black hematite crystals.  The TFe content is 42% and after ore washing, crushing, screening, and jig gravity separation, concentrate of 49% TFe can be gained. In Steep Rock beneficiation plant in Canada, the hematite is mixture of high grade needle iron and gangue with TFe of 40-50%. After washing, jigging and chute separation, iron concentrate of TFe 59% has been got.


2.   For hematite of medium inlay granules

Medium inlay granule here means hematite inlay size of -0.3-2mm, and this kind of iron is also very easy to improve. The main beneficiation method in China is mainly gravity separation and magnetizing roasting. At this moment, simple washing, crushing, screening, jigging upgrading, can form a whole hematite upgrading line to get high grade hematite concentrate. This kind of hematite can be also improved by magnetizing roasting method. However, the plant investment is large while the beneficiation cost is high. For small and medium hematite beneficiation factories, magnetizing roasting is not adopted for this kind hematite of medium inlay size.


3.   For hematite of fine inlay granules

Fine inlay granule here means hematite inlay size of +0.043-2mm. this kind of hematite is usually iron deposit of sedimentary rock like quartzite iron in Soviet, and taconite iron ore in America. In China, most of weak iron is this kind iron hard to upgrade. At this moment, combination of roasting, magnetic separation, floatation separation and gravity separation has been used commonly. And the most common one is combination of roasting and magnetic separation or floatation.
 
Roasting-magnetic separation is a mature upgrading method for hematite of fine inlay. But this method is not used so commonly because of its large foundation and operation cost.
 
Generally speaking, the main iron beneficiation method is hematite jigging gravity concentration and magnetizing-roasting processing. And the equipment involved is usually hematite jigging machine, spiral washing machine for hematite improvement while rotary kiln, ball mil, crusher , classifier, magnetic separators will be needed for magnetizing roasting processing.
