There is gravity separation, magnetic separation, and floatation separation for chromite ore and gravity separation is used most commonly among these beneficiation methods while floatation separation is used only in South Africa and magnetic separation is adopted only for magnetic chromite ore. This kind of chromite is medium and fins inlay in rocks and crushing, milling will be necessary before beneficiation and this is also the must-do processing for most of chromite rock while this is no need for placer cheomite ore in the Philippine and Vietnam. And these placer chromite ore needs washing to remove most of the clay to upgrade the chromite and then jigger or shaking table can be used to get high grade chromite concentrate.

The beneficiation of chromite can be divided into two types, one for chromite rock and one for alluvial chromite. For chromite rocks, crushers, rod millers, jiggers canbe used while for placer chromite ore, log washer and jigger can be involved. Shaking table is also kind of gravity separators, but its capacity is low and its recovery rate is low, and it is rarely used in rough chromite concentration and it can be used in further upgrading of chromite concentrate or further recovery from tailings.
