Low-grade lead-zinc ore pre-beneficiation process

Lead-zinc ore is a common non-ferrous metal mineral. In the past, the beneficiation of lead-zinc ore was dominated by flotation, but with the passage of time, today's lead-zinc ore is seriously depleted, many low-grade lead-zinc mines fail to meet the grade requirements of  flotation.Moreover, the national environmental protection requirements are getting stricter, and many places explicitly prohibit the construction of flotation plants. Under this situation, the application of flotation method in the field of lead-zinc ore beneficiation is becoming less and less, especially the beneficiation of low-grade lead-zinc ore. The flotation has been completely abandoned.

As mentioned earlier, the  lead-zinc mine cannot meet the requirements for flotation because of the low grade of the original ore.If the raw ore is sent directly to the flotation plant, although it can produce qualified concentrate products, it has no economic benefit and may even go bankrupt.

This pre-beneficiation technology is gravity beneficiation, which uses jigs to enrich the low-grade lead-zinc ore to make it reach a certain grade before entering the flotation plant or selling it directly.Gravity beneficiation not only greatly reduces the cost of beneficiation, but also greatly reduces the investment in equipment. And has become the most ideal and effective method for pre-beneficiation of low-grade lead-zinc ore.

So how does the jig machine abandon the gangue  in the lead-zinc mine so as to achieve the purpose of pre-beneficiation and enrichment?

The jig machine is a gravity beneficiation equipment that sorts according to the specific gravity between minerals. The lead-zinc ore and gangue enter the jig machine at the same time. The lead-zinc ore with a larger specific gravity settles faster in the lower layer and the gangue with a smaller specific gravity  settles slow in the upper layer, then the lead-zinc ore and gangue are separated.In this way, the purpose of improving the grade of lead and zinc ore is achieved.

The beneficiation process of low-grade lead-zinc ore is generally single gravity beneficiation process or  combined gravity separation and flotation separation.

For ores with coarse-grained lead-zinc ,the single gravity beneficiation process can obtain the ideal effect, and the final concentrate product can be directly produced according to the customer's requirements. The beneficiation index is almost the same as that of the flotation.

For ores (with fine-grained lead-zinc mineral) that can't separate lead-zinc mineral and waste rock by crushing,the combined process of gravity separation and flotation can be used for enrichment.This process can only obtain primary concentrate , but can largely discard gangue , reduce beneficiation costs, and investment in equipment.The primary concentrate produced by jig machine can then be further purified by  flotation plant to obtain the final concentrate product. 

We need to pay attention to one point when beneficiating low-grade lead-zinc ore: reducing excessive crushing of useful minerals to increase the recovery rate  and ultimately increase economic efficiency.
