Lead ore is most commonly found as lead sulphide (PbS), galena, a heavy, shiny grey metallic ore with a conspicuous cubic cleavage. The lead ore was always associated with other waste minerals known as ‘gangue’, usually calcite (CaCO3) or barytes (BaSO4).
The density of lead ore is 7.4-7.6 g/cm3,the density of calcite is 2.6-2.8 g/cm3.There is a distinct difference in density between lead ore and gangue, so we can separate the lead ore from gangue by gravity separation to upgrade the low grade lead ore.
For coarse and middle embedded size lead ore,simple crushing can help to realize the dissociation of lead granules from its attached gangues.The dissociated lead ore is fed to jigging plant for further separation to get lead concentrates.

Jig Machine is a compact and efficient gravity separation device that is utilized throughout the world for the recovery of a wide range of minerals. The jig machine is designed to separate liberated(free) heavy mineral particles from the gangue material by gravity.
Jig machine works on the difference in specific gravity(density) of different material. Under the action of pulsating water in jigging chamber, the material will be constantly pushed upwards and fall down, and the particles of different density mutually move on its height: with small density-into upper layers, with big density- into bottom layers. The formed layers of different density are separately removed as a concentrate, tailing.
