The beneficiation of Fergusonite/Sipylite is similar to that of the Ta-Nb ore. Gravity separator works as the rough separation while the floatation-gravity-magnetic-wind-separation has been used as the second further separation.

There is a Fergusonite/Sipylite beneficiation factory in Lisong, He County, Guangxi, China. And it is a Fergusonite/Sipylite mine of granite residual deposit and strike placer. For the granite residual deposit, diluvial layer, whole-regolith layer, semi-regolith layer can be divided according to the weathering degree, and there are many mines of this kind distributing. There are two exploited mines: Huimiandu & Shanghuang, and the one in Huimiandu is the main mine. The valuable minerals in the mine is mainly Fergusonite/Sipylite and the inter-grow minerals are mainly monazite, zircon, ilmonite while the gangue minerals are mainly quartz & feldspar. The granularity size of useful minerals is 0.45-0.08mm with the Nb2O5 of 0.01-0.013%, ZrO of 20.02% and ThO of 0.0086%. And the Nb in the Fergusonite/Sipylite occupies 38.96% while Nb in the biotite covers 51.8% and that in the quartz covers 7.58%. This is the main Fergusonite/Sipylite mine in China. And it is built in 1958 and the beneficiation factory is established in 1959 and when it was 1960, the concentrate was got from the mine. And its flow sheet covers rough separation and selection separation.

1. rough separation

In Huiminandu, the rough flow sheet is jigger-shaking table after single-phase milling. The material under the screen after the washing and screening is put into the jigger for the rough separation and then shaking table is used for the fine selection. The tailings from the jigger and the shaking table shall be classified into size of below and above 0.4mm and the tailings larger than 0.4mm is milled to be below 0.4mm. All ore below 0.4mm enter the second jigging separation and the shaking table will do the further selection of the concentrate from the jigger. The magnetic separators remove the iron and the left non-magnetic material is Fergusonite/Sipylite concentrate which will be sent to the second-further selection factory for further dealing.

2. further selection

Magnetic-gravity-floatation-gravity combination flow sheet is adopted here. Concentrate from the first phase will be put into the magnetic separator to remove the iron after drying. The non-magnetic material will be put into the three-pan magnetic separator. After the strict controlling of the data according to the magnetism differences, the mine is separated into: limonlite-Fergusonite/Sipylite part, Fergusonite/Sipylite-solitude part, solitude-Fergusonite/Sipylite part, and zirconite part,. The first three parts shall be washed by the acid, re-separated by shaking table and the magnetic separators. And the magnetic material out will be dealt be floatation separators with the chemical of oleic acid, sodium phosphate, and sodium silicate. And the monazite will be out while the product in the slot is the Fergusonite/Sipylite concentrate. The zirconite part will be processed by shaking table-magnetic separator-shaking table to get the Fergusonite/Sipylite concentrate and the zircon concentrate.

The final products: Fergusonite/Sipylite: 35.72% with the recovery rate of 87.62%. Monazite concentrate--65.32%, zirconite concentrate: 60.48% while the limonite is recovered.

Forui has been in ore beneficiation and slag recovery for over 25 years and we have perfect platform for trial. And if samples of 20-30kgs can be available, a mini test can be done for you here free in our factory.
