Jigging Test of Ferro Alloy Recovery from FERRO ALLOY Slag

A client from Shandong brought some ferro alloy slag of 30kgs, and Forui did a test about alloy recovery by jig separator. Here are more details about the test.


There are lots of ferro alloy granules in the solid slag because of limitation of smelting flow sheet. This Company has researched long time about the alloy recovery, but without ideal recovery efficiency. Finally, Gongyi Forui Machinery Factory has been learned on website. And the following is brief introduction about the test.
   

Uneven granules and blocks are inlayed in the slag. Crushing and milling is needed to meet the need of alloy separation requirement about the feeding size. So the whole ferro alloy recovery flow chart covers crushing, milling, screening, jigging, dewatering. The following picture is about the test result:

 

 

1.   Crushing Processing

Two phases of jaw crushing is needed to break the slag to be-50mm. Human separation can be chosen if there is few big blocks to avoid damage to crusher from lumpy alloy. The model and Quantity of crusher depends on aimed handling capacity. Two phases of crushing makes the crushing processing simple and low crushing cost.



 2.  Milling Processing

Only crushing can liberate some ferro alloy from the slag. However,there are still many fine granules attaching to slag, and there are many alloy blocks over 30mm. So further crushing will damage the crusher. Here a mill can be used to improve the single separation degree and avoid damage to crushers, so the milling processing is an essential part for the whole ferro slag processing line.

Some clients use ball mill in the milling processing, but the efficiency is not good and the handling capacity is low without working continuously while it needs cleaning every working period. In the milling processing of stainless slag, the best machine is rod mill with its large handling capacity and high milling efficiency without cleaning operation.


3.  Jigging Processing

Jigging processing of ferro alloy slag is the core separation process. There is Ni, Cr, Fe in the ferro alloy with its low magnetism. Even the intensity magnetic separation can not get ideal separation efficiency. However, the density of alloy granules is much higher than that of waste slag. So jig gravity separation can help to work well to get ferro alloy granules. There are many models of jiggers, and they can be chosen according to the aimed handling capacity and separation requirement.


4.  Dewatering Processing

There is a lot of water in both tailings and alloy concentrate from jigger. And dewatering processing can low the water content in tailings and concentrate, improve the water recycling. The dewatering processing is usually finished by linear dewatering screen with its simple structure and long service life.
