--Beneficiation of Cassiterite Tin
The tin ore washing-processing line can include washing, screening, gravity separation, milling, and floatation separation. And for different tin mine, different flow sheet can be designed according to the ore natures. There are cassiterite, stannite, multi-metals tin ore, and cylindrite ore in tin mineral catalogue, and different processing flow sheet shall be involved for different tin mineral.

The chemical composition of cassiterite is SnO2 with its tetragonal system of bi-taper, columnar, and sometimes needle-like. Its specific gravity is 6.3-6.5. As the main source of metal tin, cassiterite is kind of tin mineral with highest tin content. Most of tin in cassiterite is in shape of crystals with high single separation degree and big density, so gravity separation is a great enrichment way to get high-grade tin concentrate. For the cassiterite in alluvial tin ore, simple hand selection can help to get qualified concentrate, but it needs large human power with low efficiency. As the picture shows, there is much stick clay in the alluvial tin ore and the main tin mineral is cassiterite. The upper pictures are about lumpy tin after washing by hands. When hand selection is used, only coarse tin can be get and the fine granules will be missing, so a mechanized tin ore processing line will be needed to enrich the fine, medium, coarse tin granules. The loader will put the raw tin ore into the rotary washing machine to remove the sticky clay and liberate the tin granules from the packaged mud. This tin log washer can also screen the tin into -8mm and +8mm. The -8mm minerals go for 2LTC6109/8T jigger through vertical spiral conveyor while the +8mm ores will be put into crusher for crushing to be -8mm and the crushed -8mm tin ore will be conveyed to jigger for jigging separation. Tin jig concentrating machine is the core equipment in this gravity separation washing line to separate the tin concentrate from the impurities. There is a large quantity of water in tailings and concentrate, so dewatering screen can be used for the tailings while the concentrate can be discharged into the concentrate pool for further deposit.
